FIFA rankings: Nigeria retains 47th position


…as electoral committee rolls out timetable

 

The Nigeria Football Federation Electoral Committee Wednesday unveiled plan for the September 29, 2018 election slated to take place in Kastina. Unveiling the plan at a press conference in Abuja, the Chairman of the committee, Muhammad Katu, revealed that the committee would do all it could to ensure a rancue-free elections.

 

He also disclosed that, September 29 elections are subject to approval by the Congress of the federation and any amendments to the NFF Statutes 2010 in view of the NFF Bill before National Assembly. The sales, endorsements and return of the nomination forms, May 21 to June 4, 2018.

 

 

According to him, screening exercise of candidates would start on July 9 to 21, 2018 while release of names of candidates is fixed for Monday 23rd July, 2018. “Submission of protests/Appeals July 24 to 26 while hearing of protests/ appeals take place July 27 to 29.

 

Publication of the final list of candidates Monday July 30. “We will try as much as possible to distance ourselves from, presidency the NFF and any other prominent Nigerians that may want to influence our decisions and processes, we will try as much as possible to operate independently.

 

“We have spent our resources, our time to ensure we leverage on mistakes of the past to have a credible, free and fair elections.” he said. Speaking further, committee chairman also revealed the price of the form for the position of president, vice President and ordinary board members would goes for N350,000, N300,000 and N250, 000 respectively.

 

On eligibility of the candidates, he said those vying for ordinary member position must be 30 years old while those of the positions of Vice President and President must be 35 years of age.
