Iraqi Cleric Calls for Constitution, Election Changes, Deepening Political Crisis

BAGHDAD—Influential cleric Moqtada al-Sadr referred to as for altering Iraq’s structure and election procedures a day after his supporters occupied its parliament constructing, deepening his standoff with an alliance of Iran-backed Shiite rivals.

In a press release launched on Twitter, Mr. Sadr referred to as the takeover of the parliament a “revolution” and an “opportunity for radical change” within the political course of that shouldn’t be wasted.
